Laura Moore used to be a favorite author. Both the first and second books in her new series have been disappointing reads. I am happy that so many readers found her latest book 'Once Tasted' so enjoyable, but I did not. Once again, the author has crafted one dimensional main and secondary characters. I get frustrated with authors that create immature characters that can not seem to develop beyond their high school selves.

In this novel the main female character, Mia, never grew up from her high school persona and also never bothered to grow a spine! I wanted to like her, but I just couldn't respect her. How did she manage to graduate college with so little confidence and self esteem? She did not seem to be Reid's equal in any way.

I think this author should be writing historical romances, so that at least her characters and their behaviors would fit better into the more stereotypical roles that existed between men and women in those periods.

I will not be reading this author again.

Once Tasted Silver Creek Laura Moore 9780345537003 Books Reviews

wow, this book was just as good as the first one. Reid had his work cut out for him to begin with, and this things heated up. I was waiting for that snake,Jay to get "his". I sure would like to visit the ranch and get in on some of their events cause everything is always hot, including the romance.
I certainly did enjoy this book. I learned things about wine making and growing the grapes that I had no idea of. the characters are so real. I am anxious for Laura Moore's next book about the sister to come out...that won't be for several months.
I really liked this story it's as good as the first one and i can't wait for the last one. Laura really knows how to make characters come alive. I'm not good on reviews because I'm not a detail person and i really wouldn't know where to start on how to talk about this book except maybe face to face. You can't go wrong with this author
MMM!!!!! To be able to put myself physically into dreamland and pretend I'm his girl. Wow! I would not waste my time getting into him. I would be smarter than her cousin and his evil side. I would not waste another moment of thought but action. Reid and Mia actions where so true to life. We are slow always supposing until its almost gone and torn forever. Reading is pleasurable and I must say I loved this story Great read. Without a doubt they where to be together.
This was an amazing storyline with lots of suspense, romance and great characters.
I enjoyed how the author developed the love story between the two main characters and how she incorporated wonderful secondary characters. I have read the first book in this series and so it was fun to catch up with the previous characters and see how they were incorporated into this story.
Wonderful is all I can say about this author's writing and storytelling. Definitely a five star rating, a really great storyline.
Mia and Reid's story touched my heart, made me laugh and want MORE. I don't like to give spoilers, so let me just say these two characters were great together. Plus you got the added benefit of Ward and Tess from the first book, Once Tempted, saw more of Quinn (who I understand will be next) and who could resist Adele (Reid's mom) with her humming love songs.

Laura Moore never fails to deliver a satisfying story, and this time was no different. Her characters are always fully thought out and feel like someone you could meet walking down the street, in a coffee shop or on a dude ranch. Her stories are full of heart and heat. She is definitely one of my "go-to" authors to take my stress away and leaving me feeling good.
This is my first book by this author and it could be the last. I liked the sound of it and I enjoyed the sample chapters I downloaded so I took a chance and bought it. The h is the long time next door neighbour to the H. They have history as the h was severely humiliated by an incident in high school where her evident crush on the H was made public by her despicable cousin. Years later the H returns home to get involved in the family businesses. The h is working as a wine maker on her uncle's farm. The uncle falls in love and decides to sell a share to the H's family and the H gets involved in the business side of the farm, much to the H's horror. At the start the main characters are hostile towards each other but begin working together to make the business a success.

What I didn't like is that as usual the H is a hunk with women flinging themselves at him and the h is insecure and wimpy. I've read 3 books like this this week alone and it's driving me mad. I don't have to have a shrewish h or a very independent, bossy h but I just want my hs to have a little backbone at least. This h is so downtrodden and beaten down at every turn that I wanted to fling my . The uncle really treated her badly but we are kind of expected to understand as he's fallen in love and needs the money from the sale of shares in the farm. I wanted to like the H but in the end I just wanted to smack him. I don't feel he built the h's confidence or made her feel worthy. Actually if anything she became more insecure because of him.

The story could have been so much better if there was more equality between the main characters. In my opinion romances where one character appears to be more in love than the other, never work out. This is what this one felt like. I hate feeling sorry for a character the whole way through a book but this h inspired pity.
